Stressed

I’m stressing. My MED 365 group only has a short amount of time tonight and a short amount tomorrow night to finish editing our music video. It is due at 9:00am on Friday. We have been editing every possible chance all week long but the stupid editing lab closes every night at 8:00pm. That is absolutely ridiculous and I plan on complaining about it in my class evaluations. All the other labs on campus stay open until at least 10:00pm – why can’t this one? I am really worried and I assume we’re going to just have to find a place in the song to cut and fade out cause we don’t have near enough time to fill the entire 3 minute 20 second song. What we have so far is looking really awesome and I wish we could do as good on the whole thing but we just don’t have the time. All the other classes have until next week but since next Friday is Dead Day there are no classes and therefore our last lab is on this Friday. Damn media labs.

On top of my music video I also have an entire new game-type project due next Thursday. My group JUST started working on it last night. He wasted so much time going over trivial things in class and never telling us when things would be due but just wanting to see our work that we had to rush our last project and now rush this one. I was going to do a CD-ROM thing for the Moxie but I got assigned to a new group just because my professor felt like switching us all around at the last minute and so we’re doing one for Haruno’s Japanese Sushi Bar. Our professor asked us what we were doing and what theme we were going for and after we explained it he said it was stupid and cliche and that we need to focus on food rather than Japanese culture. We all thought he could shove his opinions up his ass. I’m not sure what we’re doing but he might have to deal with what we give him since we have only a week to make this huge program. Anyway I’m going there tonight to take some pictures for our project. Jacqui is coming so she can try her best to get me to like sushi.

Aside from this schoolwork I’m also fighting a mild cold or sinus infection cause I am very stuffed up and my head is killing me. It’s better than having Mono like I did around finals last semester! I am also in the middle of apartment searching. I’m going to look at this apartment on Friday with my sister. It is awesome. It has hardwood floors, plenty of room, free cable with HBO, high speed internet included, all utilities paid except electric, a pool, a basketball court, and a fitness center. It’s only 10 minutes from MSU and the rent with electric thrown in is going to run about $350 a month. It’s the best deal I’ve found in Springfield so far and I really hope we can get it in January.

20 + 1

As most of you know, I turned 21 yesterday. I don’t feel any different except for the pleasure of being able to order (real) drinks at restaurants and buy booze for the weekends. Well not every weekend, cause I’m a good college student…hahaha. Saturday I went to Nakato with my mom, step-dad, sister, brother, sister-in-law, and nephew. It was fun. Then we went to my parents house to hang out and we ended up watching three episodes of Lost. They are addicted now. It seriously is an addicting show. Anyway Sunday morning I slept in and then my mom and step-dad took me to Mexican Villa for lunch. That night my sister and some friends (Cara, Nicole, and Harry) took me to T.G.I. Friday’s where they bought me my first (legal) drinks. I had a June Bug, a Rum Runner (it about did me in), a chocolate cake shot, and a Mudslide. Then I went ballroom dancing with Nicole. It was our “test” night after seven weeks of class and I was drunk! I actually kept my balance so that was good. In fact I did quite good. I foxtrotted, waltzed, tangoed, swang, cha cha-d, merengued, salsa’d, two-stepped, and even did some crazy Greek dance. That one made me sick though. Anyway it was fun. I went home and worked on editing! Yes I did homework on my birthday. But I was influenced by a friend to drink three shots of Bailey’s before midnight. I was done for the night after that. Tonight my dad and step-mom are taking me to dinner at Applebee’s. I can actually drink with them! I told my mom I was getting drunk last night. She didn’t approve of course but didn’t care as long as I don’t drink around her. Anyways, I had a great birthday.

Drunken Caleb Quotes:
Me: [Laughing hysterically at the TV]
Cara: What are you laughing at?
Me: Haha…those poor people in the tornadoes!…hahaha!

Nicole: You need to try a Georgia ____(?). It tastes like peaches.
Me: Mmmmmmmmmm…I like peaches.

P.S.
I am featured in some top ten college bloggers thing. I’m not sure exactly what it is but I found the link in my site stats so I thought I’d brag about it. Heh heh.

Post-Turkey-Eating Stuffed Syndrome

For all the cheese I had to grate for my title, I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving. I had a nice day with my family. I ate some great homemade food (first in MONTHS seeing as how I’m never home anymore!) and played some Hand & Foot with my family and Trivial Pursuit: Pop Culture 2. I got to see my nephew Jeremy for the first time in a couple weeks. He was awake most of the day and was laughing a lot. By the end of the day he probably felt like a pot of mashed potatoes though for being passed around so much. Anyway, it was the first time some of my family had seen my black hair so that got some interesting looks plus the first time I’ve had it spiky around them. I just cut it and dyed it earlier this week. What do you think? I like it.

Today I worked at the Moxie from 1:30-9:00. I got to meet the filmmaker for Flying Tiger which the Moxie was showing this weekend. It was filmed in Stockton, Missouri and is being considered for a possible television series on The WB. It was a sold-out show – the second one in Moxie history (the first being another local film). All three news channels were there. I was on camera twice though I didn’t watch tonight to see if they used me. If anyone saw a closeup of someone scooping popcorn or handing someone their popcorn – that was me. Both showings of Everything is Illuminated were also very popular. We were all hoping Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie would show up since they were in town this weekend. Apparently Brad is very friendly to the downtown and art scene in Springfield and Dan and Nicole are hoping he will stop by someday in the future once the theater gets more popular. Oh and sidenote – I found out Dan and Nicole play Hand & Foot. I didn’t know anyone else had heard of that game! Sweet. I highly enjoyed my time working at the Moxie and really hope they will hire me on as a regular in the spring. Me and my sister are looking to get an apartment and I will need a tad extra income to really get by ok.

Link Me Up, Scotty!
Sing it! (This is just…hilarious)
Sell it! (My parent’s are selling their house)
See it! (Tarantino stuck his name on another movie for promotional purposes. The last time he did that the movie ended up being one of the most visually stunning and incredible films I’ve ever seen (Hero). This one looks to be one of the most visually disturbing and shocking films I will ever see.)

R.I.P. Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita)

Everything is Translucent

Today was my first day working at the Moxie. It was a blast. Now I know what happens outside the auditorium when the movie is playing! Not that it’s all that exciting, but still. And I know one or two Moxie secrets that I can’t disclose to anyone. Ok they’re not really big secrets, but still! I muchly enjoyed it. I only worked just over two hours but that’s because they let me take a break to watch Everything is Illuminated with Erin. It is so far my favorite non-documentary film to play at the Moxie. I highly recommend it to everyone. It starts off as a hilarious comedy and turns into a very introspective drama about the past that will tug at your heartstrings (oh how cheesy that line is). I’ve never been a big history buff but this movie truly shows why we must at least remember. It’s an epic adventure of ziploc bag proportions. Anyone who has seen the movie will know what I mean. A definite A+ in my book and a shoe-in for my Top Ten Best list and hopeful for many awards come spring. Go see it!

I got the new Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture 2 game to play with my family tomorrow. We always play games at holidays. It’s like an all-day occurence in my family. But I highly enjoy it. I figure we’ll spend a good four hours playing a card game called Hand and Foot and hopefully an hour on this game I bought.

I just finished (finally) editing a very short little film that was made back in October by three semi-drunk friends trying to play “Mary Had a Little Lamb” with beer bottles. At the time we thought it was on perfect key. And it is true that the sounds just happened that way, but it was completely off-key and we just didn’t realize it. And thus the final quote at the end of the movie. Enjoy!
