Work has not been fun this weekend. The store has been in shambles since Nicki quit. And Jennifer (my manager) has been on vacation. And so I come into work on Friday and couldn’t believe how much of a mess the store was. It just pisses me off when fellow employees who don’t care about their job don’t DO their job and then I have to pick up the slack to get the store back in order so my manager won’t kill us all when she returns. I worked a nine hour shift on Friday (12 hours when you add in my SMSU hours) and then a 8.5 hour shift on Saturday. Today I felt like crap and all the customers were cranky (it’s common for Sundays). But I did get everything prepped. And felt some level of accomplishment. So tomorrow morning when I go in maybe Jennifer will be grateful (and maybe finally give me my 6-month review and a raise!).
Ok, ’nuff complaining about work for one post. I tried watching Alexander but couldn’t get into it. Even the newly-revamped, Hollywoodized Director’s Cut is boring and not interesting at all. I blame it on Colin Farrell. I can’t stand that actor in anything. But mostly I blame the director, Oliver Stone, for thinking he’s better than he really is at directing movies. However, I did watch the first half of Angels in America from director Mike Nichols (The Graduate, Closer). It was very good and the acting from Al Pacino was the best I’ve ever seen and Meryl Streep and Emma Thompson were amazing as well. The film is six hours long, so I’ll finish it another night. For now, I’m going to bed.
P.S.
I thought I would share something I posted in an IMDB message board concerning a comment about the upcoming film, Romance & Cigarettes…
cantthinkofaID says:
I’m appalled by this movie already. It promotes smoking. Disgusting. I will NOT be seeing this.
And my response to this idiot’s comment:
Oh I hear you. I refuse to watch Star Wars because it promotes war and space travel, Fight Club because it promotes fighting, To Kill a Mockingbird because it promotes animal cruelty, Singin’ in the Rain because it promotes activity that could lead to the catching of a cold, Pirates of the Caribbean because it promotes piracy, Raging Bull because it promotes rage, Kill Bill because it promotes murder, Finding Neverland because it promotes Michael Jackson, The Grapes of Wrath because it promotes criminal fruits, The Wizard of Oz because it promotes witchcraft, Sin City because it promotes, well, sin!
I could go on and on!!! Or I could get a life and not freak out and not see a movie just because of a negative word or unhealthy habit is associated with the title of a movie.
