Back to School

Tonight I went to dinner with my brother (Zach) and sister-in-law (Kristen), my sister (Rebekah), and my dad and step-mom. Zach was in town for a test to apply at the Springfield Police Department. Kristen moved back home earlier this week, and she sure is pregnant! Zach will be back next Monday. I’m so glad they’re back! Kristen is due in early September but Zach said the doctor said it could be anytime. I will be an uncle within the next month! Anyway, after dinner we went to my dad’s and watched Million Dollar Baby. Great movie. It was an enjoyable night and made me feel better after a not-so-enjoyable week.

This week I have class from 9:00am-12:00pm. It’s MED 300 – Sci-Fi Noir. I know we’re watching Blade Runner, but I’m hoping we’ll watch any of the following: Donnie Darko, Gattaca, 2001: A Space Oddyssey, A Clockwork Orange, Alien, The Matrix, The Manchurian Candidate (the original), or Twelve Monkeys. Anyone know any other classic sci-fi noir films?

I’m so jealous. My brother has been staying in Hollywood the past few days. I guess he’s staying with Kristen’s cousin who is attending the Los Angeles Film School out there. He said he had gone to the set of her cousin’s film (for his senior thesis) a few times and got to see all around Beverly Hills and whatnot. He was telling me I should go out there for film school. I would love that. But would my bank account? It costs about $34,000 for the one-year program. And that’s not including living expenses. But if I got a scholarship or two and took out another student loan or two…hmm…

  • How is Kathy doing? I’m glad you’ve had a good night- and good luck with your class. It sounds like it should be a fun one.
